Trackman/woman (2 vacancies)

The Opportunity:

SRY is looking for two (2) dedicated and hard working incumbents who are experienced in the maintenance and operations of the railroad; if this describes you, we want YOU!  Reporting to the Track Supervisor, the incumbents will have a wide array of responsibilities to keep his/her day going which may include the following, but not limited to:

  • Performing manual labor functions, such as tie replacement, shoveling, tamping, brush cutting and other maintenance related tasks;
  • Operating track machines, tools and equipment as required;
  • Operating and maintaining track switches as needed;
  • Operating company vehicles; and
  • Communicating via radio with crew members and workers in the office regarding rail transportation work to be performed.

The Ideal Person who loves to work on the railway must:

  • Possess minimum grade 12 diploma or GED equivalent;
  • Preferably hold a Track Inspection Geometry Certificate;
  • Have experience operating railway maintenance equipment (tamper/regulator/loader) – preferred;
  • Have a mechanical background;
  • Hold a valid BC driver’s license; and
  • Have physical ability to perform manual labor functions.

Additional information:

  • This job requires the incumbents to work outdoors in ALL weather conditions, and walk extended distances over uneven terrain;
  • Adhere to safety procedures/guidelines at all times. Safety is our core value which requires you to wear proper safety personal protective equipment; and
  • Occasional ability to work any shift, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including holidays.
