SRY
Locomotive and Car Repair Facility
The SRY Locomotive shop maintains our twenty-nine
locomotives and 1000+ railcars to Association of American Railroads
(AAR) and government regulation standards. SRY also provides services
to outside customers with a reputation for quick turnaround time
on all projects. SRY provides most of the same services provided
by other locomotive repair shops including changing out engines,
generators, components, truck rebuilds, and other minor to major
repairs. In addition, ‘one-stop shop’ services offered include:
- providing assistance with purchases of
equipment
- providing advice and recommendations
on future repair costs
SRY uses ‘composite mechanics’ that are qualified
in electrical, mechanical and airbrakes for locomotive repairs. All shops do not offer this efficiency. Specialized
equipment available includes a wheel lathe and a wheel press. SRY’s Repair in Place (RIP) track for car repairs
has certified carmen who are all qualified welders and inspectors
available to modify, upgrade or repair all types of railcars.
Projects have included widening, modifying and painting flat cars
for a pulp mill, air-brake conversions and upgrades, refitting
of antique passenger cars, truck bolster upgrades and rebuilds.
